ISME calls for education revamp

AS the Leaving Certificate results were published, ISME, the Irish Small & Medium Enterprises Association, called on the Minister for Education Batt O’ Keeffe to overhaul the education system, from primary to third-level, to include entrepreneurial studies as a key element.

ISME calls for education revamp

ISME chief executive Mark Fielding said: “The Irish education system is lagging far behind our international competitors when it comes to promoting and applying entrepreneurial skills. The whole system is geared towards producing employees who, in many instances, lack the core business skills that would assist them both as employees but more importantly as future entrepreneurs.”

Mr Fielding accused Government of failing to back up its aspirations for an entrepreneurial economy with practical supports and resources.
