Elan shares shed more than 60%

The Dublin market tumbled on Friday morning as Elan shed more than 60% of its share value after admitting two users of its multiple sclerosis drug Tysabri contracted a potentially deadly brain infection.

The ISEQ index lost 281.92 points to finish the week at 4089.70.

AIB and Anglo-Irish dropped 10.5c and 4c to €7.84 and €5.08 respectively. Bank of Ireland and Irish Life and Permanent gained adding 3c and 5.4c to €5.38 and €5.23.
