Market falls for sixth day running

THE ISEQ index fell for the sixth consecutive session yesterday as investors chose to take profits after previous gains.

The index closed down 70.24 points at 4,371.62.

The banks had a mixed day with news that English bank HBOS reported a 51% drop in profits. AIB moved up 10c to €7.95. Bank of Ireland shed 4c to €5.35, Anglo Irish Bank fell back 47c to €5.12, while Irish Life & Permanent gained 3c to finish the day at €5.18.
