RYANAIR has called on the European Commission to examine unjustified fuel surcharges imposed by airlines on air tickets.

“Already high-fares flag carriers such as Aer Lingus, British Airways, Air France and Lufthansa continue to impose and increase their fuel surcharges with the EU making no attempt to investigate it,” it said.

Earlier, British Airways said it was “absolutely inevitable” that prices would rise with higher surcharges due to the soaring cost of fuel.
