Mixed day for banking sector

THE Irish market ended the week at 6,071.99 up 7.99 points for the day as oil prices dropped from their week highs triggered by a US regulatory probe and a strengthening US dollar.

In the financial sector, the banks had a mixed day with AIB down 4c to €12.90, Bank of Ireland gained 8c to €8.15, Anglo Irish Bank climbed 12c to €8.40, while Irish Life and Permanent moved up 15c to €11.25.

In the construction sector, CRH added 12c to €23.70, Kingspan put on 10c to €6.80 while Grafton finished a dismal week down a further 5c at €4.80.
