BIOLLIONAIRE businessman Seán Quinn is hoping for clearance for his proposed €300m power station in Co Louth this week.

Quinn bids for power station plan

A decision from An Bord Pleanála is due before the weekend and Quinn is said to be optimistic that the planning authority will give him backing for the project 450MW gas fired power station that will prove further competition to the ESB in the Irish market.

Plans for a second gas fired plant to be located at Toherroe, Co Galway, look less certain however with talks with An Bord Pleanála taking longer than expected.
