Market recovers early losses

THE ISEQ index closed at 6,392.50, up 17.50 points yesterday. The index recovered early morning losses after a better-than-expected report on consumer prices helped alleviate some of Wall Street’s concerns about inflation.

Profit taking dominated financial stocks in the early exchanges with AIB shares finishing up 18c to €13.60, Bank of Ireland dipped 4c to €8.76, Anglo Irish Bank rose 9c to €9.40 while Irish Life remained stationary at €11.14.

In construction, CRH fell a mere 5c to €23.70, Kingspan dropped 18c to €7.45 while Grafton dipped 6c to €5.30.
