THE ISEQ index enjoyed a powerful rally yesterday to end the week up 136.10 points at 6,474.62.

This was primarily due to the overnight surge in Walls Street shares as it responded to the latest Fed cut. The rally continued as better than expected US jobless figures were released.

The financials lead the charge with AIB closing up 45c at €14, Bank of Ireland gained 17c to €9.12 with over 4.3 million shares traded, Irish Life & Permanent shot up 55c to €10.83, while Anglo Irish Bank added 12c to end the week at €9.12
