Market hit by heavy losses

THE ISEQ Index suffered heavy losses yesterday mirroring woes across other European bourses. The Irish market fell 249.64 to 6,478.82.

The banking sector was hit hardest on the day with AIB slipping 68c to €14.47 and Bank of Ireland lost 53c to €9.43. Anglo Irish weakened significantly down 43c to €9.45 while Irish Life & Permanent shed 52c to €9.90.

In construction, giant CRH dropped €1.08 to €22.64 while Kingspan closed 47c lighter at €9.90 and Grafton ended the day down 20c at €4.80.
