Continued fears over the US economy drove shares on Wall St lower and the principal European bourses followed that lead yesterday. The ISEQ index fell 205.81 to 6,683.33.

Financials had a bad day as their US counterparts were particularly weak overnight. AIB and Bank of Ireland were down 51.3c and 36.3c to €14.77 and €10.17. Irish Life and Permanent shed 15.4c to €11.20 and Anglo-Irish followed suit down 45.1c to €9.82.
