Scully tells farmers to seek increase

ICSA national beef chairman Seán Scully said farmers should begin 2008 by demanding a significant increase in beef prices and must resist being offered December beef prices in January.

“In the last months of 2007, supplies of cattle to beef factories in Ireland were higher than expected but this will not be repeated in the early months of 2008. All of the key EU markets are either steady or increasing and look positive for the new year,” said Mr Scully.
