Digicel wins Honduras licence

DIGICEL CENTRAL AMERICA HOLDINGS, owned by Irish businessman Denis O’Brien has won a competitive bid process for a licence to operate a GSM mobile network in Honduras with Digicel bidding $80.1 million (€55.8m).

It is expected that the decision to grant the fourth operator licence to Digicel Honduras will be approved in the coming weeks.

Digicel also expects to contribute to the local Honduras economy, employing 300 people directly in its operations and leading to the indirect employment of 7,000 people.
