Regulators to be reviewed

THE Government will review its economic regulators, including the financial watchdog, to gauge their effectiveness.

It will also hire consultants to compare Ireland’s “economic regulatory environment” with international peers, Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said in a speech in Dublin yesterday. The review will include the energy, communications and financial regulators.
