PEOPLE calling for a radical expansion of milk quotas were described by the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA) president Jackie Cahill yesterday as “economic fantasists”.

He was speaking at the ICMSA annual general meeting in Limerick, during which a policy document favouring a supply-management system for the EU milk sector was launched.

Mr Cahill said the ICMSA policy would involve a modification but a continuation of the quota system beyond its current life of next March.
