Market slips after early gains

THE ISEQ Index closed marginally lower yesterday on a turbulent day that saw a strong gain in early trading only to fall away in the afternoon.

The exchange slipped 18 to close at 7,749.58.

The financial stocks had a weak day with AIB falling 20c to €16.50 while Bank of Ireland was 3c higher to €11.88. Anglo Irish was 17c lighter at €12.03 and Irish Life & Permanent fell 18c to €15.50.
