Horse charity launches fund appeal

THE Irish Horse Welfare Trust, a Co Wicklow-based national charity involved in the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming of neglected horses and ponies, has launched a capital appeal to buy its own farm.

The trust has operated from rented premises and has had to rent additional premises to facilitate the number of horses it cares for, with up to 70 kept at one time.

It has now identified a suitable farm as a permanent base but needs to raise almost €2 million through donations and sponsorship to buy and develop the property.
