Profits at Mosney fall to €800,000
The site is owned by Louth-based businessman Phelim McCloskey and his wife Elizabeth and they have operated the former Butlins holiday village on behalf of the Department of Justice since 2000. The original contract was in place for five years but it has been extended and the number of asylum seekers staying there has increased to 800.
The profit for the year is down nearly €200,000 on the previous year.
Revenue in 2006 came to €8.6m compared to €8.7m in 2005.
No reason was given by the company for the drop in profits, but it has been adding new facilities on the site.
According to the accounts, the company employs 83 people, including 14 security personnel. The extra numbers pushed up employee costs from €3.1m to €3.4m.
