Icon profits surge by 43% in Q2

ICON, the Irish provider of clinical research for drugmakers, said second-quarter profit rose 43% as it won record levels of new business.

Icon profits surge by 43% in Q2

The company said net income climbed to $13.3 million (€9.6m), or 45 cents a share, in the three months to June 30, compared with $9.3m, or 32c, a year earlier.

Sales increased 35% to $207.4m. Icon won a record $230m of new business in the period. The company bought DOCS International for about $40m earlier this month.
