Market in the red over US worries

THE ISEQ Index took a further nosedive yesterday amid further concerns over the effect that the slump in the US housing market is having on the economy.

The Irish exchange fell 110.84 to 9,173.33.

Financial stocks were among the worst hit once again. AIB dropped a further 26c to €20.13 even falling as low as €19.64. Bank of Ireland gave up 27c to €14.65, Anglo-Irish eased back 7c to €14.35 while Irish Life & Permanent lost 5c to close at €18.15.
