A BRIGHT future for the country’s dairy industry was predicted at a Teagasc open day attended by an estimated 10,000 people at Moorepark, Fermoy, Co Cork, yesterday.

Visitors were also told that milk production could increase by over 40% in the coming years and that there is an urgent need for increased processing capacity.

The latest science and technology available to help the industry to compete even more successfully on world markets was outlined by Teagasc experts. Challenges and opportunities facing the country’s 21,000 milk suppliers and the industry in general were also highlighted.
