DAIRY co-ops have been accused by the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association of being distinctly slow in passing back long awaited price increases to milk suppliers.

Jackie Cahill, president, said dairy market prices continue their steady increase. Skim milk powder has broken the €3,000 per tonne barrier and continues to forge ahead while the butter market is very strong.

“The net affect is that we are experiencing one of the best dairy market situations ever,” he said, stressing it is pay-out time for dairy farmers.
