AIB was flat at €22.35 while Bank of Ireland fell 7c to €16.63. Anglo-Irish was unchanged at €16.59 with Irish Life & Permanent falling 17c to €21.49. In construction CRH shed 39c to €32.40, despite announcing its tender offer for Swiss peer Getaz Romang has been successful giving it control over 96.79% of the company’s share capital. Grafton Group added 1c to €11.55, Kingspan eased back 5c to €21.10 while McInerney dropped 5c to €15.15.

Meanwhile, Elan gained 10c to €10.96 following the publication of findings that its MS drug also reduces vision loss by as much as 47% in patients. Other movers included Smurfit Kappa up 45c to €19.60, Ryanair ahead 10c to €6.17 and IFG Group 6c higher at €2.14.
