Shell begin drilling for natural gas

Europe’s largest oil company by market value, Shell, began drilling at the Corrib natural-gas field off the western coast of Ireland, part of a €823 million project that had been held up by protests.

The company plans to have five wells ready for production when it finishes drilling in the third quarter. The field contains about 1.1 trillion cubic feet of gas and is about 83 kilometers (52 miles) offshore.
