Farmers set to receive €19m refunds

REFUNDS worth in the region of €19 million due to farmers in relation to the deductions made from their single payments in respect of modulation will issue later this week.

The amounts deducted under modulation in each EU member state form a common community pool. This is then available for redistribution to member states as additional community support for rural development measures.

Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan said individual farmers are not liable for modulation reduction on the first €5,000 paid under the single payment scheme.
