Farmers ‘to benefit from biofuels’

FARMERS look set to benefit from new opportunities that will be created for them by moving agriculture to a new dual system of food and power production, according to Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.

He said that, on the back of this new agricultural production, the Government will facilitate the establishment of a new bio-fuel industry in Ireland.

Mr Ahern said, in the years ahead, the Government will protect Ireland’s success by leading a green energy revolution that ensures that Ireland meets its obligations in full to tackle the climate change challenge.
