Market falls slightly in light trading

THE Dublin market was slightly down yesterday, after a day of light trading and very little relevant news-flow. The ISEQ index finished the session down 6.25 points at 9265.07.

The financial sector as a whole performed well earlier in the day, but dropped back to record only minor gains as the session came to a close. AIB and Irish Life and Permanent gained 7c and 19c to finish at 22.12 and 21.00 respectively. Conversely, Anglo-Irish slipped 5c to 15.93. Bank of Ireland remained stable at 17.13.

The construction sector faired better as Grafton, Kingspan and CRH all made gains. CRH were up 10c to 30.09, Grafton rose 5c to 12.06 while Kingspan performed best tacking on 12c to 19.87.
