Banking and construction slow market

THE ISEQ index suffered from losses in the banking and construction sectors. The exchange lost 111.17 on the day to close at 9,426.07.

In the financial sector, AIB fell 50c to €23 as stock sales dominated. Bank of Ireland shed 30c to €17.22 while Anglo Irish and Irish Life & Permanent both dipped by 10c to €15.60 and €21.

In construction, CRH slipped 51c to €31.04. Grafton and Kingspan also closed lighter, down 30c and 27c at €12.40 and €20.20. Elsewhere, Kerry Group was the star performer climbing 45c to €19.20. Drinks firm C&C fell 30c to close at €13.60.
