AER ARANN has announced the appointment of Dr Iognáid G Ó Muircheartaigh to its board of directors, effective from January 1.

Dr Ó Muircheartaigh has been president of National University of Ireland Galway since August 2000.

He is president of the Irish Universities Association, the representative body of the seven Irish universities, and also chairman of Universities Ireland, which represents all nine universities on the island.

Client milestone for BT broadband deal

Dublin: BT Ireland has announced that it has reached its 50,000 residential customer milestone for its BT Broadband product.

Since the launch of the company’s Broadband & Total Talk package at the end of July, BT’s share of the home broadband market has substantially increased with about 1,000 customers signing up to BT Broadband each week.

Head of BT Ireland’s consumer division, Emer Kennedy, said: “The success of Broadband and Total Talk shows how competitively priced packages that resonate with consumers can stimulate demand in the Irish market.”
