THE ISEQ index followed the trend of most of the major European bourses closing down 3.84 to 8,647.29.

AIB and Bank of Ireland shed 13c and 14c to end the day at €21.62 and €15.90. Anglo-Irish also slipped 8c to finish at €14.12, while Irish life and Permanent gained 8c to €19.15.

Elsewhere, Ryanair ended the session as it began at €9.42 after announcing that it would be extending its offer for Aer Lingus until December 4. Aer Lingus lost 2c to finish at €2.71.
