ANNOUNCEMENTS by companies including Aer Lingus helped drive the ISEQ up 35.39 to 8,575.08 yesterday.

AIB rose 10c to €21.25, Irish Life & Permanent closed up 13c at €19.30 and Anglo Irish Bank climbed 11c to €14. Bank of Ireland fell 10c to €15.40.

In construction, CRH dropped 4c to €27.30. Kingspan fell 5c to €16.50. Grafton gained 7c to close at €11.52.
