Farmers set to receive €500m payout

ADVANCE payments in the region of €500 million will be issued to some 113,000 farmers under the 2006 single payment scheme from Monday, Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan has confirmed.

She said these payments are being made at a rate of 50%, with the balancing payments scheduled to commence on December 1.

Ms Coughlan explained advance payments would continue to be issued over the coming weeks, as individual cases are cleared.
