IBEC group Retail Ireland has condemned the EU decision to impose anti-dumping duties on leather shoes imported from China and Vietnam and is calling on the Council of Ministers to overturn the decision tomorrow.

Retail Ireland director Torlach Denihan said: “The decision will mean higher prices and reduced choice for Irish consumers while endangering jobs in the retail, distribution and logistics sectors due to reduced sales.

“The decision is pandering to protectionist forces. We commend the Irish Government for opposing the decision.”
