Consumers’ guide to CAP launched

THE farming and food educational body, Agri Aware, has launched an information campaign about the benefits of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) for consumers.

Co-funded by Agri Aware and the EU Commission, it highlights the role of CAP in providing consumers with safe, good quality foods, protecting the environment, supporting jobs and encouraging tourism.

Agri Aware chairwoman Mairead Lavery said food would be considerably more expensive without CAP supports , because farmers would need to get higher prices for their products to remain viable.
