Marts: The ministerial curb on exports of beef from Argentina has resulted in a drop of 33% in the volume of beef supplied into the EU this year — but restrictions have been significantly eased.

Argentina was the second-largest exporter of beef into the EU in 2005, supplying 22% of the total.

Since the signing of the order by the Argentinean government last March, restricting exports of beef — because of rapidly rising inflation in the country — exports of beef have fallen by 42%.
