Market eases after strong period

THE ISEQ index lost ground yesterday, reflecting losses on most European bourses. Tuesday and yesterday saw an easing in the market after a strong recent period. The ISEQ closed down 32.47 to 8086.31 points.

The financial sector was the primary lag on the market overall, with AIB losing 21c to €20.49, Bank of Ireland slipping 3c to €14.67 and Irish life and Permanent down 9c at €19.86. Anglo-Irish Bank bucked the trend by rising 6c to €12.75.

In construction, CRH dropped 19c to €27.54, Grafton rose 2c to €10.97 and Kingspan gained 5c.
