Meat scientists’ conference to generate €900,000 for economy

A CONGRESS being held in Dublin this week will generate €900,000 for the Irish economy, according to Fáilte Ireland.

Some 450 leading meat scientists from all over the world are attending the 52nd International Congress of Meat Science and Technology, which is being held in Ireland for the first time in 30 years.

Fáilte Ireland head of product marketing John Rafferty said the congress showcases Ireland as a business tourism destination. It was a tribute to the organising committee’s hard work that this high-yield international congress, which is of particular importance to agricultural exports and the reputation of the Irish meat industry internationally, was taking place in Ireland, he said.
