EIRCOM has been given until November to improve the “unacceptably low service levels” it is providing to other telecoms companies looking to attract customers to new broadband internet products.

The Commission for Communications Regulation (ComReg) issued its timetable in a report yesterday on the progress of local loop unbundling (LLU), which to allow customers to switch telecoms providers without changing their phone number.

The ComReg said that while some progress was being made by Eircom to facilitate its competitors, not enough had been done.
