TD in call for nuclear debate

A FIANNA FÁIL TD is pushing for public hearings on the potential use of nuclear energy in spite of Government opposition to nuclear power.

Noel O’Flynn, who chairs the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Communications, Marine and Natural resources, says the lack of debate in Leinster House on the issue amounts to “hiding our heads in the sand.”

“The forum for discussing this should not be the media and universities alone — it should be done in a proper structure and the place to do that is in the houses of the Oireachtas.”
