Pigmeat exports to China due soon

CHINA has emerged as a promising market for Irish pigmeat, according to Agriculture and Food Minister Mary Coughlan.

Ms Coughlan signed a protocol last year with her Chinese counterpart to facilitate the start of direct trade in Irish pigmeat to that country.

“We have since had a veterinary delegation here from China to inspect our meat plants and we are now in the final stages of completing the process.
