JAPANESE stocks advanced for a fourth day, the longest winning stretch in three months, amid speculation the US Federal Reserve might refrain from raising interest rates.

Sony Corp led gains by exporters.

The Nikkei 225 Stock Average added 66.88, or 0.4%, to 15,638.5.

The broader Topix index rose 9.21, or 0.6%, to 1,602.43.
