EirGrid takes over from ESB

NATURAL Resources Minister Noel Dempsey TD has welcomed the establishment of EirGrid as operator of the National Grid, taking over from the ESB.

“The establishment of EirGrid as a fully fledged legally independent entity is a critical milestone in the process of opening up the Irish electricity market in line with EU Internal Energy Market legislation,” he said.
