ICMSA seek ban on Brazilian beef

THE Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association yesterday called on the European Commission to impose an immediate ban on Brazilian beef imports.

Jackie Cahill, president, made the call following the latest report on beef production in Brazil by the Commission’s Food and Veterinary Office.

He said Brazilian beef does not reach the standards met by EU producers. Mr Cahill said he had raised the issue with minister Coughlan in Geneva, where they are attending the world trade negotiations.
