Survey warns of interest rate hike

The survey, conducted for Standard Life, found that 71% of mortgage holders have no plans to accommodate increases in monthly repayments.

The findings will add to concerns expressed by the Central Bank earlier this year which found that, for the first time, individuals’ borrowings had exceeded disposable income. The bank is concerned that when interest rates do rise, many homeowners will struggle to make their repayments.
