Vital for economy to win inflation war

WINNING the war on inflation will determine the country’s economic future, a leading business figure said yesterday.

IBEC director of industrial relations and human resources Brendan McGinty said that while the euro exchange rate and oil prices may continue to exert pressure, action on areas within our own control to curb inflation must get priority.

In a debate on competitiveness and partnership at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) conference, he said the anti-inflation initiative in the Sustaining Progress agreement must be used aggressively to shift policy and expectations towards a low inflation environment.
