THE London market closed lower yesterday after sentiment was hurt by further corporate accounting worries emerging from America.

By the close of trading, the FTSE 100 Index was down 14.3 points at 4601.3.

Earlier, the Footsie shed 63 points as worries about accounting and profit taking following Friday’s high took their toll.
