Dublin starts week on bright note

SHARES in Dublin began the week in the black, mirroring increases across Europe. The ISEQ rose 31.25 points to close at 6333.97.

The banking stocks ended the day stronger overall. AIB nudged ahead 3c to €16.88 while Bank of Ireland and Anglo-Irish also strengthened, up 26c and 24c respectively. On the downside, Irish Life and Permanent shed 8 to €13.67.

A mixed day in the construction sector left CRH 35c higher at €21.23 while Grafton gave up 13c to €9.01. Kingspan managed a 1c increase, while McInerney slipped 7c to €8.43.
