ISEQ bucks negative Euro trend

SHARES in Dublin bucked the negative trend across Europe yesterday. After eight consecutive days in the red, the ISEQ index rose 40.67 points to close at 5263.99.

The financial sector was mixed. AIB gained 30c to €12.30, while BoI strengthened to €10.11 with over 3.49 million shares traded. Anglo Irish Bank lost 17c to €13.29, while Irish Life & Permanent was 5c weaker.

Ryanair gained 12c to end the day at €4.48. Elan finished 56c stronger at €18.22. Fyffes said that it is acquiring Everfresh, a Swedish fresh-produce company, for up to €77.6m. The stock closed at €1.60, 4c firmer.
