THE economy continues to perform well and GDP growth remains on track to hit 5.5% this year, the Central Bank said yesterday.

But it also warned Ireland cannot afford a further slide in the value of the dollar or sterling against the euro.

The bank’s latest quarterly economic bulletin said there were positive signs from exports and the level of investment in housing, although the pick-up in consumer demand had only been “modest.”
