TD wants new US routes from Cork

WITH the end of restrictions on trans-Atlantic routes on the horizon and the Shannon stopover being phased out, Cork Fine Gael TD, Bernard Allen has called for US routes from Cork Airport to now be made a top priority.

"All the fanfare welcoming the new regulations has focussed on new destinations and operators coming to Dublin Airport. It is time that balanced regional development was taken seriously instead of the lip service it is paid by this Government," he said.

"I want to see a commitment from Government and their TDs in Cork to do all they can to secure trans-Atlantic flights from Cork Airport. There is no doubt the demand is there and such a development would prove a huge benefit for the city, the region and the country."
