THE number of jobs advertised in the national press fell last month, though experts said that it was unlikely to be an indicator of a slowing economy.

The Bank of Ireland monthly job index fell 8% last month, its first fall since May, with the number of recruitment ads showing a marked decline in the manufacturing and financial sector.

However, the bank’s senior economist Michael Crowley said it is extremely unlikely that this signals a reversal of the recent trend of steadily rising employment.
